Just some thoughts on the past and the future and what’s important in life.

The Old Man.

An Old Man dies. Leaves his body and his spirit goes to “heaven”.  When he gets there, he is greeted by the Gate Keeper.  Looking through records on his clipboard, Gate Keeper raises his eyebrows and says, “follow me, there’s a very  special area for you”.  As they walk together Old Man is told that only humans that have accomplished extraordinary achievements get to be where he is going.

       When they get to the special area, Old Man sees horse trainers.  They all have impressive credentials. Some trained thousands of horses. Some have trained horses to do spectacular things. Some have helped other humans train horses for themselves.  Some are world renowned. Old Man is overwhelmed by the greatness he sees.

       After thinking a bit, he asks, “but why am I here? I had some horses long ago and didn’t know what I was doing. I made big mistakes.”  Gate Keeper says,  “ those horses are here and have forgiven you.  It’s that last one. The one that let you “see”.  She lifted the veil for you. Not many get that privilege.”

       “That horse gave you gifts that are priceless. She gave you love. After you could “see” properly, you returned the favor.  You two had a pure relationship.

The best gift she gave you was the ability to “see” with your heart. It is only with the heart that one can see rightly”

        “Yes”, Old Man said, “we met when she was a baby. She was with me her whole life after that. I promised her we would be together forever.  We never learned any fancy tricks or competed in anything to win anything.”

       Gate Keeper explained, “ the tricks, the ribbons, the numbers, money or impressing other humans isn’t important. You two had the really important part. A pure love and respect for each other.  She worked on you for years to break through your hardness. She loved you fiercely, even through your  shortcomings.”

       Old Man replied “ yes, and I lost interest for a time. One day she finally got through to me. She told me as clearly as if she spoke English. “ just be here for me, you’ve been here physically but I need you spiritually, emotionally”.

  I understood, not just a physical presence but rather the emotional presence and connection. The love and understanding was what she wanted.  I had abandoned her emotionally.  She lived in pain because of that.  I am able to say though, that the last of her life,  I gave to her my all. Every day. “

           Gate Keeper said, “yes, and she knew that and appreciated it.  And now, she’s waiting to see you here.  You two are part of a “herd” of spirits that keep meeting through different lifetimes. Those special dogs are waiting for you too”.
