A Wednesday update.

We went riding today!!!

He came out of the house with my hackamore and I got excited. I put the picture and idea in His head and it worked!

Earlier, They put us ( the bruna) across. The round pen is clear of snow and ice and the sand is soft. First thing we did was to roll and it felt SO good. Luna did rolling the most. She rolled and rolled. It feels so good on our backs.

We then ran around a bunch. In the round pen we ran in circles like They have us do sometimes. We really kicked up the sand. We also ran out of the round pen into the rest of the across, around trees and back into the round pen. We did bucking too. Luna bucked in place a bunch! There’s always sound effects ( if you know what I mean) too when we first start bucking.

It was just great. Later, both Luna and I laid down and slept in the sunshine in the soft sand in the round pen. SO nice!

After while He brought my hackamore for me and I helped ( as always) put it on. He led me to the tack shed and put on my bareback pad. He used a muck bucket as a mounting block to get on by the tack shed instead of going into the round pen. The bucket isn’t as tall as the mounting block so He had to jump a little to be up on me and then swing His leg over. He’s never done that before but I didn’t mind.

We then rode all the way down the driveway and down the street to daughter’s house and back. When back, we did the trail around the back side of the paddock. That was a first. The paddock trail is narrow with lots of trees. We even saw one of those scary birds that like to make noise. I was brave and hardly even did a tiny spook. A tight spot on the trail made me nervous and I said no to it there. I turned around but He asked me to try again, telling me it was ok. Turns out He was right, it was not a problem. Next we went up the tunnel trail and the street up to the big road with lots of cars and trucks on it. I did lots of trotting, I like trotting.

Coming back, we kept going all the way to the house. She had just gotten there in Her car. The dogs were in the car and barked a bunch. She let the dogs out and I said hi to my favorite one, Taiga. I like him lots. I groomed him for a bit. Licking him is like a pacifier for both of us. I licked hi all over. It really surprised Them when I first started liking Taiga. He is a very special dog. His spirit is quite large and exuberant.

We then all went back up to the tack shed and He undressed me and let me back into the across. Later, at feeding time, He put my hackamore back on and went to the mounting block. I followed of course so He could get on me. I could see in His head what He wanted to do.

She put Luna’s halter on and opened the round pen opening for us a bit. We backed through the opening and then went to the swinging gate to the paddock. We did my gate trick with Him on my back. Luna and She followed us in. He then swung His leg over my neck and slid off on my off side. I never know which side he will use to get on or off. I don’t mind either way. It’s just great to be doing riding.

He made lots of really good mouth sounds telling me how happy He was and how great I am. I really like pleasing Him. We then had our usual supper for the end of a wonderful day.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, He did foot trimming on Wren this afternoon too. She held Wren while He did her feet. He says Wren has almost perfect feet. I have really good feet too. He’s happy for this.
