Your Monday Morning Bru!
This week has been mostly boring except for the last couple of days.
The weather has been nice winter weather with some wind but in our barn that is sheltered by lots of trees, we don’t get bad wind. It snowed just a bit last night.
Moon got to go “across” a few times. They put her over there so she can wander around more without luna bugging her. She gets lots of hay there and extra grain. She likes it over there. There’s places to roll and it’s big enough to kinda explore. She spends most of her time where They put a pile of hay under a big tree. She can wander into the round pen too, to roll in the sand pile there.
Two days ago, some new humans came by. They were very friendly and petted us some. Even though Wren still has some stranger danger, she came to the fence with me and Luna. She doesn’t mind treats, but when one of them touched her, she spun around and jumped away. She is SO silly. After saying hi to all of us ( and making nice mouth sounds about and to us ) they all went to the big poop pile and loaded the back end of a truck with poop. Humans are SO interesting. I could see pictures in their heads of a big fish like animal that they wanted to bury in horse poop. The poop has tiny tiny bugs that eat away the meat and leaves only the bones. Im happy that humans like our poop so much.
Yesterday, She took Moon and Wren both across and did fun stuff with them. Actually, Moon went across first at feeding time ( so she can eat by herself and not have her grain stolen). They do this sometimes to let Moon out of her special area in the barn / paddock for a change. Usually, they just open up her area so everyone can go in and she can go out and wander around the paddock.
Yesterday was a workday for our human people. They even had a boy come help. They picked up poop and did some other chores in the barn with the boy helping.
He came to the paddock riding a machine that is noisy and has wheels. The boy followed walking. The boy and He cut up some tree parts with another noisy machine and put wood bits in the trailer behind the wheel machine. They drove it ( the machine) into our paddock a couple of times to get woods and take the woods to a big pile by the house. I watch Them ( from my favorite corner of the paddock) take woods bits into the house. It’s interesting, They must eat the bits because I never see the bits come back out.
Luna learned about noisy wheel machines when she lived in Idaho with her first human that she was not supposed to stay with. The manifestation to get us together was kinda complicated but we did make it work eventually. When she was there, they taught her lots of stuff and that’s one of the reasons shes so brave.
I don’t like machine things, especially ones that make noise. One of the things He has taught me is to trust Him and be brave with scary stuff. Every once in a while He drives past our paddock with His noisy wheel machine. The first time or two He did this, I didn’t know He was part of it. I thought it was just a kind of monster. As it went by, He would talk to me. That really surprised me. I finally figured out He was just riding it, kinda like He rides me. It was hard to understand at first. When He did this ( riding the machine by the paddock), He put a picture in my head of not being scared and that it wouldn’t hurt me. We all got used to it some. Moon was use to it from before we were here. Her herd ( before us mustangs ) was used to lots of stuff like this and was brave.
So, when He rode the noisy wheel machine into our paddock, I was concerned and a little scared but I didn’t run away. He was giving me good pictures in my head and good mouth sounds to help me be ok. I still stayed a little ways away. He is proud of me because when I get scared and run away, I stop and then run right back to Him, just like when They do the Hayhut. They went back and forth a few times doing work.
Moon is usually unfazed by stuff like that but for some reason she got scared and was blowing and snorting a bunch. When He saw that, He stopped doing work and went to her to help her be ok. ( remember, she was across by herself then ). Moon was lots happy then when she realized all was ok and she got some attention. Not long after, She got Wren and did play work with both Wren and Moon in the “across”.
After doing work in the paddock, He and the boy took the machines around the outside of the paddock. The did cutting and moving of fallen trees and bushes. When I realized what He was doing I got happy. He is making a trail around the outside of the paddock that goes through the trees and back to the street in front of the house. I can see the picture in His head that we will get to walk and ride on this trail. The dogs go there already. They can do that because they are so much smaller than us. I hope we get to ride the trail soon.
I keep putting riding pictures in His head. Like I said last week, especially this time of year, the days just blur together. I don’t even remember how long it’s been since we did riding. I know the pictures stick in his head because I can see them there. He promises it will be soon. I miss the closeness of Him and the touch of Him on my back. Luna feels this way too.
Another person I like is Taiga. He is my favorite dog. The other dogs are nice and part of our herd but, Taiga is special to me. He makes me feel like a mother and like grooming him and taking care of him. We are good friends. He has a beautiful spirit that meshes with mine. Im glad he is part of our herd. Roona is nice too but she is still learning social skills and is just a little scatter brained. She too, is good for and a good part of our herd.
I’ll remind Kestrel to write to you soon too. Next time I will see if I can tell you more about our spirits and how we “talk”.
May you be happy and have good herd.

I love your perspective. The wood bits heat our houses, and the poop grows our gardens. Human behavior is odd sometimes, yes? I don’t care much for noisy machines either, but we humans need them now and then—we are not as strong as horses. Happy Monday! 🩵🐴
Bru, I’m glad you had such an eventful week, and are excited about the new trail. It sounds like you have a lot of fun in your future.
