Your Monday Morning Bru!
We just had breakfast and it’s another post that is a day late, but, as i’ve said before, time is a bit subjective for us horses. Routine is important and a source of a feeling of safety for us. I do work at keeping strict about keeping up my MMBs. Even though it’s Tuesday, you still get a MMB!
Yesterday, He left home early. He did bring breakfast and was home in time for supper. The reason he left early was that his human herd ( friends) had put a picture in His head. He spent the day with them doing fun stuff. I remember when I was little, we would do fun stuff, wild and free with my mom and our herd, we would sometimes just go for walks. Sometimes we would run around just for fun and feeling our muscles work. Running is so much fun when we are out in a big open. A big herd makes it even more fun. The sound of our hooves all together making big noise. The wind on our faces and in our manes and tails. Oh!
So, yesterday, He was with His herd doing stuff like running together. I can’t understand the pictures I see in His head because they are so foreign to me. I do know He had fun though. Today I’m putting my pictures in His head and we will see if it works.
A couple of days ago luna and I were in the “across” for the afternoon and end of the day. When it was time for supper, I had an idea and put it in His head. I had Him put my halter on me and let Luna follow at liberty. I told Luna too so we would all be on the same page. We did like this on walks a couple of times when we were in New Mexico at the big arena place. He let Luna be free and she followed us.
With my halter on, He led me out of the round pen and asked Luna to follow. She did follow at first but saw or smelled something interesting over by the poop pile. He callled her and she followed us again, but, He had left our supper buckets sitting by the path and as we walked by, Luna saw them and immediately went to them. He tried to get Luna away from the buckets and while He was doing that ( he still had my lead rope in His hand ) I got distracted and lost my footing on the icy path.
I fell down! This scared me a bit but I got up right away. He made some mouth sounds I didn’t like because it scared Him too. He is afraid for me because Eva fell once and broke her hip and He really wants me to stay safe and not have that happen.
We all got back into our big paddock and the barn and had our supper without any more problems. I will put more riding pictures in His head for today.
Our Hayhut hay is getting low now. They will put a new bale soon. I like new bales. Another nice thing is that the days are getting even longer now and the ice will soon be gone and we will be able to do riding in more places. We are shedding our winter coats too. Luna’s and I are shedding some but Moon and Wren are making piles of shed hair. It gets all over our humans and makes them smell good. It feels good to roll in the snow and get the old hair off. Sometimes I even rub up against the barn or trees to scratch the itch of spring time hair.
This morning I felt into Him like I usually do and I saw that He is hurting a little from His playing yesterday. He had a slight limp this morning. I think He fell or something. I also felt a concern for our dog Roona. They are taking her to the dog doctor today. She feels ok mostly but is not keeping her food in her stomach. As horses, we can’t vomit unless something really bad is happening. For horses, vomiting is an end of life event. Dogs can do it kinda naturally, it’s part of their nature.
For you humans that don’t know, we, as horses, can “see” you, your feelings and intentions. Sometimes humans wonder why we horses act a certain way. Quite often it is because we can see or feel what is inside you. Your concerns, anger, fear or emotions ( good or bad ) are clear to us. If you have something that scares us or you are not congruent, we can’t really connect with you properly and interact as you might want. Our self preservation instincts are strong. When you can stay calm we feel best. Even if you are upset, if you are congruent we are usually ok with that. Just let us know your true self so we are not wondering and or being confused.
May you be happy and I hope you are having a great spring with some warm days.

I’m glad the ice didn’t hurt you too much. And, I hope Roona is okay. 🤞🏼🐾
Bru I am so glad you are ok. Remember green grass? Well, it’s coming back. Here in Texas we have a lot now. I know you are later, but it’s coming!
